Special Town Meeting July 22nd, 2020 at Gov. Brann School House 6pm to discuss Article 12 (the sale of the picnic area and Aricle 14 to allow officers to expend for the paving of Laplante and Madore Rd . It was voted to table this for a special town meeting when more voters could possibly attend.
Another Special Town Meeting to be held early August at the American Legion Home in Van Buren to discuss the Deorganizational Procedure. A special date will be set for the 2nd vote 7 days following this meeting date. Please refer back to the website and the outside bulletin board at the Cyr Plantation School House.
Effective immediately all public meetings and elections are cancelled until further notice. In light of the pandemic from the Coronavirus we have had to cancel any and all public gatherings in an effort to protect everyone.
Once this crisis is over we will notify the public and post the dates on the election and meeting dates. Check back here for updates or look for posting on the outside bulletin boards. We urge everyone to heed the warnings of our Gov. Officials regarding social distancing so we can ensure safety for everyone as best as possible.
The Town of Cyr Plantation will be holding it’s 2nd “Special Town Meeting” to review and discuss the deorganization procedure to become an unorganized township. If there is a favorable vote the effective date would be July 2022
The meeting will take place on May 19th, 2020 at the Van Buren Community Center at 6pm all registered voters are urged to attend.
Nomination forms are now available at the Town Clerks Office for the March 26th, 2020 election of town officials. Anyone wishing to vote absentee should contact Janet Lapierre, town clerk at 868-5403
Burn Permits are required for ALL burning in Cyr Plantation. You may contact Mike Lajoie at 868-2665 or our Clerk Janet Lapierre at 868-5403 to request a permit.
Burning without a permit is in violation and could result in a fine.
Plumbing Permits are needed for all new construction and updates to systems. To ensure compliance contact our plumbing inspector as follows:

External permits such as septic systems, $265.00

The Town of Cyr Plantation has set forth a policy regarding property tax payments.
A property tax discount of 4% will be given on payments made within 30 days of postmark with a cap of $5,000.
Interest rate of 7% will start to accrue 60 days after postmark date of mailing and applied on all unpaid taxes.
Payments made after the due date will be applied to the oldest tax year along with interest that has accrued.
We are proud to announce a grant award from the Belvadere Family Foundation in the amount of $4,000 for renovations to our historical school house.
We are deeply grateful for this opportunity and want to thank the Belvadere Foundation for their generous donations.
Trail Grant: Each summer, we are able to offer free tours of our Historical School House all thanks to the Maine Acadian Heritage Council, without their help we would not be able to provide this service to the public. The school is open to the public starting 4th of July weekend and ending l labor day each year , Summer hours are posted when the school is open for touring.
